Levantine Hill Samantha's Paddock 2012

Five varieties make up this Bordeaux inspired delight from low yielding vines. All fruit was hand picked and hand sorted spending 16 months in French oak.

Aromas of black fruits, cassis, handbag leather, dried herbs, violets and dried purple florals. Milk chocolate like oak waltzes in sync with juicy black fruit. Seductively medium bodied (12.5%), this is weighted perfectly. All elements are just a snug fit. What strikes me the most is the fruit really comes to the fore with oak hovering in the background. Soft and supple with a powdery tannin finish.

A wine worth splashing out for.

Cellar long term.
