Bowen Estate Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

2013 was a good year in the Coonawarra. It takes my mind back to the Coonawarra Vignerons Cup in January this year sitting in the marquee and hearing Vignerons President Tim Bailey speaking in glowing praise for the year that was.

A night out recently I bought a bottle of this off the list and it was in fine form.

All the usual Cabernet aromas fell right into the slot. In the mouth I had the sense I was hulling out a forest berry tart - delicious! Although the alcohol was up there (15.5%), the wine certainly wasn't top heavy producing some savoury characters with a generous and soft delivery. Dark fruits for days. A few glasses between friends and it was finished quickly. Impressive stuff.

Track this down in retail land for under $30 - a ripping deal.

Ready to drink now but will easily sit for over a decade.
