Pooley Wines Cooinda Vale Chardonay 2016

Chardonnay to take you to your happy place. The fruit from this vineyard was previously destined for Penfold's Yattarna - not anymore. This is the first vintage the Pooley's have kept their own fruit, an excellent decision in many respects.

Off a 25 year old vineyard, this is a fine boned, expressive yet refined Chardonnay. Quite pretty and delicate, it moves freely and gracefully like a ballet dancer. 70% went through MLF and 50% new barriques were used.

Soft nuttiness is guided by a delicate citrus drive. The purity of the fruit is clear and it is able to speak unconditionally. Grapefruit and almond meal sit in the saddle flanked by struck match with fine acidity shaping is spine. A delicate and sustained length adds further polish to this mightily impressive Chardonnay.

Best drinking now to eight years.
