I was invited along to the Huntington Estate wine lunch on the weekend. Impressive food matched with well-crafted wines. This 2018 Semillon is hot off the press. A great wine to slurp on during warmer months, this is what I consider 'pool wine'.
Bursting with lemons and lemon zest, it exudes freshness. Chill it hard and have with anything you like - seafood is the go without a doubt though. At the lunch, it was paired with ocean trout ballotine with cucumber, creme fraiche, horseradish and Avruga. A bucket of prawns would have been just as fine.
Clean and crisp, its broad through the mouth. Lemon juice drips on the tongue with an edge of green apple. Light to taste, more time in the glass saw some grassy traits emerge. Great drinking in the sun.
Drink now to three years.
