Quality Chardonnay. This the eighth release of the Hexham Vineyard. Handpicked and pressed to French oak (22% new) for wild fermentation. Eight months on lees before bottling.
Mealy, toasty and flinty, lemon rind and grapefruit are prominent. As with the Ngumby Vineyard, there's a distinct minerality present with good textural drive. Raw cashews plus a tinge of nougat step to the side of focused stonefruits. Give it a little more time and it will drink even better to ten years.
