Montalto Merricks Block Pinot Noir 2016

Brilliant Pinot. Glamour and then some.

From grey loam over clay soils on an east facing site sitting 55m above.

Savoury appeal here evident from the get-go. It's twiggy, scents of clove with a little Nutella chocolate and nutty thing going on. Bright red fruit is energetic yet accompanied by blue and plum fruit which is denser and more concentrated through the mouth than the Red Hill and Main Ridge single vineyard Pinots. A thread of apricot kernel evident too. Earthiness and those twiggs ride a slow wave of pleasure through to a long finish. A delicate ride from super fine tannins, a feature of these Montalto wines, as they walk slowly and give a softly softly touch. Pleasure in spades.

Drink now to eight years.
