Polperro Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris 2017

Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris coming from a vineyard 270m where no herbicides or pesticides are used. The fruit was handpicked, whole bunch pressed and fermented in barrel on full lees.

Taut initially, poached nashi pear, white peach, underripe pineapple, cut herb and green mango aromas capture my interest. A minerally push sits comfortably in the background. More time in the glass reveals a flinty, funky, smokey thing going on. Above all, there's something curious lurking within which I can't put my finger on. A soft creamy presence rides through the mouth before soft spices close it out, but I'm not too sure that funk factor will appeal to all.

Drink now to three years.
