It was tools down in the office and all hands on deck when the ladies at Oliver's Taranga all went into the winery to produce this fifth release Mencia Rosé named after them - the Chicas!
The last couple of Chica Mencia Rosé releases have been a little denser and weightier I have found. This has a darker appearance too. The 2017 would be my favourite, I must admit, when the colour, fruit and texture all danced to the beat beautifully.
Here, red berry fruit sits at the core with blackcurrant, dried pomegranate and some creamy textural feels. An ever so faint spice kicks back in the distance with a finish highlighted by the white bit of a strawberry. A good length and refreshment appeal lends itself to solid lunchtime drinking.
