Quite a savoury Pinot from TarraWarra. The acid profile points to a long future.
The I Block was planted in 1989 with 15% new French oak used.
Tea tree, pencil shavings, a fraction of smoke and roasted meats get my attention early. Some mandarin and aniseed aromas too before shifting to cherry fruit. Well balanced oak and calm, soothing spices linger beautifully. There's a bright acidty for now that has me wanting to come back here in a few years time. Let it build, let it relax and you'll be in front, as was evidenced on the second and third day of tasting.
Drink 2020 to eight years.
