If there was such a thing as a sessional Pinot, this would be awfully close. It's such a delicious wine with no fuss or pretentiousness. Glasses are empty in no time with wines like these.
If you drive past Aitken's Folly, don't blink as you could miss it. A small 3 hectare site, 75% is planted to Pinot - the other 25% being Chardonnay.
Made by Dan and Sarah-Kate Dineen at Maude, a stone's throw around the corner.
Dark cherry fruit and blackberries swarm the mid-palate. There's some restrained power but yet walks with open arms ready for an embrace. Red apple acidity keeps things bounding along with super fine spices on close. It really is great drinking and humbly priced.
Drink now to five years.
