Grandis Wines Yin-Yang Rouge 2018

The beauty of small producers is their desire to try news things. Here's a wine infused with ginseng as an alternative preservative. The high natural antioxidants of the ginseng help protect the wine during fermentation and maturation resulting in a wine with very low sulphites.

A blend of Hunter Shiraz and Hilltops Cabernet (70/30), it smells stalky and leafy from the Cabernet component. Some time in the glass and this blows off. Let it breath and dark plum and blackberry fruit are prominent with touches of red currant and dried oregano. An earthy presence from the ginseng is evident too. The longer I let it sit, cut herbs and parsley aromas rise up. The fruit walks with a clenched fist and lands a fair punch too.

Drink to 5 years.
