Roussanne. Such a delicious wine when made well yet so underrated, and for many, unheard of. Yangarra Estate are one of the best producers of the variety in the country. Big love right here.
From Yangarra's certified organic and biodynamic vineyards, this is wild yeast fermented in 25% new French with the remainder in older barriques and puncheons. It spent 7 months in barrel all up.
Delicate cashew nutty complexity and honeyed tones swarm on opening. There's a touch of lime on the opening whiff too. Almonds, ginger and cinnamon spices all combine delivering fantastic width and length. A limey tang opens the door with more time in the glass and clings on to a memorable finish. Some bright acidity knocks everything into shape on close. It's just beautiful. Chicken dishes or creamy pasta is all I need now.
