Escaping to the pub in these Covid times is all a bit exciting. Wine lists aren't what they used to be, for now at least. Mind you, the pub I went to was clearing their bottle shop stock through the restaurant. A lamb shank pie and a bottle of this did the job magnificently.
The current release Outpost is the 2018 so to get a 2016 was a win in itself. A terrific medium bodied Cabernet, blackberries and blackberry paste dance with ease. The fruit was juicy with touches of cedar and expected mintiness. Some leafy characters mingled and green herbs hitched a ride. Some tension was present too. Drying tannins were a little powdery and begged for more. Long to finish with a lick of spice, it was a super wine really and a great find.
