Zonzo Estate Rosé 2019

The last time I was at Zonzo Estate it was known as Train Trak Wines. New life has been breathed into the old cow milking shed with re-branding and new ownership in 2015. The incredibly talented Caroline Mooney is now the winemaker too. A label to black book as one to watch with Mooney at the helm, this Rosé is made for Friday afternoons. Or Saturdays. Or long lunch Sundays. You get the drift...

Hand picked Shiraz was whole bunch pressed to tank. 40% saw malolactic fermentation and was kept on full lees.

There's some heft under the hood. Good weight too, enough to grip with both hands. But having said that, it's not a monster and merely well balanced - clever winemaking indeed. Strawberries leap from the glass as do touches of tangelo and licks of mandarin peel. A soft creaminess creeps up and throws its arms out. That textural presence is incredibly appealing - make no mistake. You can taste the white bit of the watermelon too - yum! Soft through the mouth with an ever so fine lick of spice, winding down with a large pour of this is bliss.

Drink now.
