Sapling Yard The Four Pinots 2019

Quite a unique wine and one I've never previously encountered. Made from the four Pinots - Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier which were all sourced from around the Canberra district.

A dry wine, it shows a pale salmon appearance in the glass courtesy of the Pinot Gris component seeing 12 hours on skins. Strawberries, dried red cherries and the white bit of the watermelon get things on the move. There's an ever so faint green stemmy characteristic which doesn't mesh but that fades away soon after opening. Some textural appeal ticks the box. Firm acid pinches more than expected but softens with time in the glass. Finishing long, it's quite the surprise packet.

Drink to three years.
