Blue Pyrenees Section One Shiraz 2018

Section One was the first planted site at Blue Pyrenees back in the 1970s. Here's a great example of Shiraz from the region.

The finished wine spent 20 months in a combination of American and French oak.

There's some punch here. Powerful blue and purple fruit is coupled with some oak sweetness. It's a generous wine that hasn't quite meshed yet, but don't despair, time will do its thing. For now, the fruit, oak, acid and tannin seem to be working in silos. This was evident as well on the third day of tasting. Firmish tannins another indication of the need to let this chill out in a dark place. It's a wine I'd like to revisit in three years. In all, letting a wine develop in bottle is not a bad thing and something we need to do more of in Australia as many wines are poured too young.
