Rouleur Chardonnay 2020

This is such a wonderful Chardy to kick back with. I would definitely run for this if I saw it on the shelf. Fabulous and fresh. Yes!

I was fortunate enough to receive this sample from BJ at Bacchus Wine Merchants in Brisbane. A first-class individual, he is incredibly passionate about the brands he carries.

This is my first look at a Rouleur Chardonnay. Rouleur is a cycling term and is someone seen to be a good all-rounder on the flat and hills. I love cycling. And Chardonnay. It appears I'm a Rouleur too. Perhaps we were destined to be friends?

A fabulous Chardonnay this. Subtle whiffs of flint on opening with an explosion of citrus juice and white-fleshed nectarines seeping through its veins. The grapefruit acidity has a precision about it that brings the mouth to water. A soft creaminess from the oak (16% new which also went through MLF) adds some delicate complexity. 34% saw second and third use oak with the remainder to stainless steel. Eight months in oak all up.

A citrusy tang purs and just hangs - delicious. A wine sure to please those seeking a modern style Chardonnay.

Drink now to three years to embrace the freshness.
