A blend of McLaren Vale and Coonawarra (73/27), there is some heft about this Cabernet Sauvignon.
I had it open for several hours prior to tasting. Geoff Merrill wines are often big so a little air does no harm. True to form, this is generous in its offering of blackberries and cassis early. Char and lead pencil plus dark chocolate add savoury nuances along with some woodsy spices. A fair whack of oak is prominent with cedar the leading act. Some dusty earth is scattered around a long finish leaving cocoa powder like tannins. Drying and sapping there is a moreish appeal.
