Yelland and Papps Shiraz 2018

Ever reliable, this Barossa Shiraz from Yelland & Papps is a bit like those old boots - so comfy, they never let you down. Pour a generous glass of 'comfort wine', sit back and relax.

As we've come to expect with Yelland & Papps, this is layered with interest and brings together Shiraz from six Barossa sub-regions. Things kick off with earthy, meaty, sarsaparilla and cola scents. A captivating start shifts to dark berry fruits and black plums reaching far and wide through the mouth. Some chocolate adds a shade of pleasure but you can't help but consider each layer. And that is something this dynamic duo do - they pour interest into their wines. Licks of clove and soft spices are ribbed through the mouth leading to a long finish highlighted by dusty tannins. Meat cooked over the coals, charcuterie or a golden sunset as the temperature starts to dip - yes please.
