Zema Estate Family Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Great Cabernet. This is in the zone. It's alluring. The best of the best from Zema Estate, the quality you get for the asking price is enormous.

I find that with many Coonawarra Cabernets. The quality is impressive yet the price you pay is much less than some other regions with strong Cabernet form. The RRP listed here is $50 but buy direct online and you score a deal for $42. How good!

And before we get started, how impressive are these new Zema Estate labels? Not all facelifts come off but this has hit the mark and then some. Well played.

This sees 24 months in French oak. A swirl of the glass reveals dried herbs, some mintiness and black fruits. Stay a while and dark plums, mulberries and flashes of dark chocolate unfurl. Delicate touches of licorice and cloves add more savoury delight. Sure it's a bit firm initially with some tension but that settles after a few days of tasting. A wine that will live long, this is an aged release with plenty in the tank. Cabernet lovers should zero in on this.
