Burton McMahon George's Pinot Noir 2020

Darker in appearance, darker fruit too, this George's vineyard has a denser delivery than its Syme sibling. Two small parcels saw 100% whole bunch fermentation and the result is telling.

Harvested on two occasions to gain different characters and more interest, it saw 30% new oak for ten months. I'm a big fan of whole bunch fermentation and it was thrilling to see this wine beside its sibling which only saw 30% whole bunches. Here you will find blackberries and black cherry fruit, leaf litter, mushroom compost, black earthiness, and truffles. Dried thyme rises up with more time in the glass, and not surprisingly, a skinsy grip and mouthfeel are prominent. Some woodsy spices purr and are super fine. A moreish Pinot that leans in and whispers to you.
