This wine marks Ricky Ponting's milestone innings of 127 v England at Headingly in 1997. It was his first Ashes test and his maiden century. Good memories for Australian cricket fans no doubt.
To sum this up, this is long and graceful - like a Ponting pull shot over square. Dark fruits with mulberries shine bright blueberries try to peer through. It's generous, no surprises there with Ben Riggs at the wheel. Despite being in a decanter for a couple of hours prior (insider tips when tasting a Riggs wine), it did budge all that much from its firm stance at the crease. Scents of cedar, a lick of caramel and fine baking spices linger. It just seems never-ending, and of course, oak plays a big part. Above all, it's a very tidy wine and will appeal to those who like 'em a little larger.
