Paisley Wines Clurichaun Mataro 2018

I always enjoy the background stories and learning that comes with wine labels. So today's lesson is that the Clurichaun is the bad-tempered cousin of the Leprechaun. There you go. From the southern end of the Barossa comes this dense and spicy Mataro.

Veneers of interest gradually reveal themselves although it's still a little firm on opening. Given some air, it opened up nicely. Dripping with black and dark plums there is a suggestion of leaf litter too. Once softened, cured meats stake a claim as a savoury backbone runs the length and width. A really impressive wine that needs time to show its best.
