Lienert Estate Shiraz 2017

Gee the label is pretty schmick. A salute to pink pin strips on the inside of a suit. The 2016 was a cracker at 93pts - no pressure on this 2017...

I looked at this over three days but we just didn't seem to get along. Not all friendships are Rosie - sigh. A very old-school presence, it is drying with fruit cake and warmth that come with that style. Time in the glass sees a tea tree aromas breakthrough. Baking spices and spiced cake are prominent with a curious dab of pine needles. Burnt toast and dark chocolate come late and some sweetish oak is noticeable, but that warmth and spice just lingers. Dense and weighed down, given the price point, this is hard to recommend. Given the choice, I'd run to the 2016.
