Thomas Wines Synergy Shiraz 2020

Andrew Thomas' overall production in 2020 was down 60% due to his meticulous fruit selection given the smoke issues that some areas of the Hunter Valley were exposed to. Thommo would normally pick a dozen sites but in 2020 he only picked four. But have a look at this... With the quality of the fruit, he even suspects this to be the best Synergy Shiraz he has released.

You can read Thommo's detailed thoughts on the 2020 vintage here. Those who follow his wines with a keen eye would be saddened, given the year and the stigma attached, that no Kiss was released. Despite the fruit from that block looking sharp, much of it ended up in this Synergy.

Tasted at the Thommo on Tour Shiraz release dinner, classic Hunter earth and blue fruit get your attention early. Mulberries and ripples of spice follow suit. Deliciously medium-bodied, there is an energetic vibe about its swagger. It's long and moreish and that spice just seems endless. A ripping Hunter Valley Shiraz for $25.
