Simpson Estate Jenny Cabernet Merlot 2017

A wine that grows on you, for a label I don't know much about I walk away suitably impressed. Very nicely done here.

An 81/15 blend with a dollop of Malbec (4%) just to keep things in check. It sees 44% new French oak for 18 months and some fair bottle age before release.

On opening the oak raises its hand to ensure you know its present. Mocha and dark chocolate get my attention too along with some char. It's a wine that opens up beautifully, so give it that opportunity. Black fruits and mulberries waltz along with fine spices on their tail. Drying, fine dusty tannins delicately coat the mouth drying out ever so subtly. Great stuff.
