Briar Ridge HRB Shiraz Pinot Noir 2021

Dancy red berries skip around with sheer delight. A joyous medium-bodied red wine well worth splashing in your glass. This is a tribute to the famed Hunter Valley Burgundy wines of days gone by - hence the name HRB.

Made by Alex Beckett who recently took out the Hunter Valley Young Achiever Award at the recent Hunter Valley Legends Awards 2022, his short sharp acceptance speech oozed humility and you can see that aspect of his personality come through in this wine.

Given the scarcity of Pinot Noir in the Hunter, this is suggested to be the last HRB made by Briar Ridge. The Pinot comes from a site on Hermitage Road whereas as the Shiraz comes from the winery's Mt View vineyards.

Raspberries and red cherries partner up to deliver lip-smacking deliciousness. There is a lift and energy here that can be attributed to the carbonic maceration of the Pinot Noir component. A flash of blackcurrant leaf washes through but the flicker of soft, fine spices hug every turn and crevice lingering long. A wine that will even take a slight chill in warmer months, its easy-going and gentle touch makes this a fantastic drink.
