The Shiraz and Viognier blend fad was red hot years ago and its appeal has simmered down somewhat. The odd example still bobs up. Here is a solid expression from the Hunter Valley's Comyns & Co.
This is red cherries, red berries and soft spices all the way. Some floral lift, black tea and brown spices muse with a tension gathering on the mid-palate. Wonderfully medium-bodied, it skips through the mouth. There is a joyous disposition about the Comyns family and you can see that here in this wine. And why wouldn't you want to be joyous? This is a great drink sure to please.
Drink to five years.
