Montalto Estate Pinot Noir 2021

This is where the party is at. Damn, that man Simon Black can make Pinot sing. This Montalto mid-tier Estate release is a charmer and a classy little thing.

Where to start? It's a wine that's stripped and ready to perform. There's an athleticism about its swagger yet a focus that zeros in on the interest factor. A medley of orange peel, cola, baked strawberries, dark cherries, blueberries, dried herbs and super fine spices ripple through the mouth. Well-balanced acidity and oak walk beside the layered fruit. Light to medium-bodied, there is a juiciness that wrestles with the savoury elements. It's one of those wines that you sip slow but go back to pronto purely because there is so much to digest.

And excellent wine hands down.

Drink to eight years.
