Coming from some of the highest vines in South Australia (550m), this Heggies Riesling throws up some white flowers, slate and lemon zest aromas. Quite fragrant, the more I smell it the more a muted rose water type of character seems to appear.
Good fruit is delivered with lively acidity. The mid palate is thin. Too thin perhaps. Had the fruit flushed through a little more it would have moved up a notch or two. Expected minerally grip hangs on as does a citrus kick with a talc like finish. Dry, I could have a glass but it doesn't captivate me as much as I would like. Fish and chips would go just fine with it mind you.
There's certainly aging potential here. I reckon it would shape up a bit better with a few years under the belt.
