Leafy, capsicum, black currant - all the typical Cabernet traits step up here. It possesses a juicy vibe and I'm in! It just smells inviting and deliciously Cabernet.
In she goes and it's another story. It's a bit flat and to say I'm deflated is an understatement. Not a patch on the 2012. Seems watered down and lifeless in some respects. Cabernet is said to be a 'donut' wine, that is, leaving a big whole in the middle. You certainly get that here.
Whilst the fruit has decent weight and there's some grip to finish - lots actually, I do get that sense of 'what could have been'.
A good wine but nothing to get too excited about.
Drink medium term.
Good.
