The fundamental difference being 95% whole bunches used here compared to the 40% in the vineyard blend, plus the fruit here is entirely from the Tarraford vineyard. The dial of deliciousness has been cranked up high.
Much more savoury in delivery, the bunches show some stemmy characters. A year and a half in oak (only 20% new) helps the dark cherry fruit maintain its mojo. Some funk adds good time factor whilst leaf litter and undergrowth synonymous with Pinot kick in too, as does some smokey meat with pan juices sitting patiently in the background. A dusting of black pepper to finish. Super soft and smooth, glasses of happiness like this should never end.
Drink now to ten years.
