Shottesbrooke Bush Vine Grenache 2015
This is a new addition to the Shottesbrooke range and winemaker Hamish McQuire is finding it hard to contain his excitement. I'd don't blame him either - Grenache off 90+ year old vines doesn't come to hand all that often.
Some sweet fruit initially but time in the glass guides this on the right road and it drank impressively particularly on the second day of tasting. Raspberries, bright cherry, subtle charred oak, a dusting of wood and peppery spice plus a thin veneer of earthy characters sits below the fruit. Great drinking and a wine which certainly possesses a moreishness. Give is a decant and you're on a winner.
Drink now and over the next six years.
