Toolangi Pauls Lane Chardonnay 2013
Toolangi making $38 sound cheap. Absolute quality here shining on the podium. Precise and elegant, the delivery is seamless from top to toe.
Previously made by Dave Bicknell out of Oakridge, there has been a change in the guard with Franco D'Anna taking charge now from his Hoodles Creek winery (Gary Walsh from Winefront reliably informs me that Franco also made the 2011). This sat in 25% French oak for ten months. Only 280 dozen produced.
Peaches and cream and a whisper of fig effortlessly drive this creating serious drool factor. It's certainly a generous wine but one the affectionados can easy handle and indulge in. Superb length and attention to detail has ensured this wine smacks the bullseye.
Would I buy it? Absolutely!
