The 2016 Mudgee vintage is said to be one of the best in the region's history.
A whiff of this and it's got my attention. Lots of tropical fruit appeal surprisingly - it's not walking down the road of citrus straight off the bat. That comes later. Cut green melon, lemongrass and cut herb then shift into the Semillon frame we know.
A most enjoyable summertime drink, there's a minerality which seems to be screeded across the tongue. It's pithy and a bit zesty. A squeeze of lemon before a crisp finish. It grows on you, that's for sure. Great buying for $22. I'd have a couple of chilled glasses, no problem at all.
Find some fresh seafood and sunshine and you can't go wrong.
