Schild Estate Edgar Schild Reserve Grenache 2014
I had the opportunity to walk around many of the Schild Estate vineyards prior to tasting the wines at the cellar door. It was a great experience with fabulous insights from Michael Schild (chief viticulturist with a killer tash).
Coming off 100 years old bush vines, the pedigree couldn't be finer. The wine spent six months in old oak.
Pretty aromas of red flowers, a dab of spice and nuances of blue fruit. Light to medium bodied, delicate savoury fruit is delivered with a kick of red earth, a dusting of pepper and exotic spices across the mouth. Super fine tannins urge another sip.
Another reason to drink more Grenache I say.
Available at the cellar door or online only.
