Merlot is a much maligned variety but Peter McGlashan seems to be making it a strength in his range.
There's a bit of personality here - yeah I know. Merlot with personality. Who would've thought?
A good vibe in the glass. Take a whiff and think bark and railway sleepers. Dark plummy fruit is flanked by some minerality. Chip away a little more and uncover cherry ripe and red currant goodness. Firm through the middle, chalky tannins to finish which are drying but have a plump feel. Interesting.
A glass or two would go down the hatch easy.
Drink now to ten years easy.
