Montalto Single Vineyard Red Hill Block Pinot Noir 2015

My eyes light up every time samples from Montalto arrive, the quality is always high. 2015 was a great year too.

Those who've visited the cellar door would have overlooked the vines which contributed to this wine. The site sits 110m above. 25% new French oak for eleven months round out the details.

Plummy fruit with a minerally drive form the nucleus of this very approachable Pinot. A touch of what seems to be cocoa wriggles around for some attention as does an energetic red apple acidity. A dash of pepper and firmish tannins roll out to a savoury finish which is long and moreish. Delicious drinking. Give it some more time to settle and it will reward handsomely.
