Dirt Candy The Favourite Vermentino 2020

Dirt Candy's first Hunter Valley Vermentino release.

From the outset, it smells fresh and inviting. Think green apple skin as well as a salty oyster shell thing going on. Cut green herbs have a fair say in the mouth. Having spent four hours on skins to develop some texture, there's a delightful crisp factor plus a lemony tang that lingers. But that green herby thing loiters that bit too long and takes away from what else is on offer. A wine that needs food I feel. The suggestion is for spaghetti marinara or arancini balls but I'm more inclined to go down the deep fried calamari and fish and chip road.

Drink now.
