A different take on Syrah without going way OTT. Zero additions, the exploration of texture and edgy styles from Alkimi continues its impressive growth.
Perhaps it was designed to be like Solo, low on the fizz? From a 25 year old vineyard and seeing 14 weeks on lees, this is an interesting but simple Pet Nat.
Only 11% alcohol, the fruit is quite thin but there's enough to keep you curious. Underripe strawberries and red currants are the main players. Some bready characters feature too. Quite spicy, you get a scent of it early and it rides out the whole way clinging to a respectable finish. You can see the appeal with this wine no less, chill it hard and pour large. Refreshment is imminent.
