Such an intriguing wine. There's a polish about this yet it has a rustic appeal all at the same time. A great drink.
Marsanne skins were co-fermented in one vat making up 1% of the overall blend. Inspired by Domaine Jean-Louis Chave in the northern Rhone valley where Marsanne and Roussanne are interplanted with Syrah where field blends are the norm. No field blend here but the fruit does come from adjoining blocks.
Black pepper, meaty, raspberry and blackberry fruits mesh with ease. Generous through the mouth, the pleasure rides long. Soft, it's a caring caress and I keep getting drawn back to the tickle of pepper that lingers. Long and moreish, a delicious wine.
