This Dalwood Estate has skipped up five bucks since the previous vintage but you'd pay it. It's a pretty impressive Hunter Valley Chardonnay.
Coming off light and sandy soils on the banks of the Hunter River, the vineyard is 25 kilometers north-east of Pokolbin between Branxton and Mainland and is cooler and wetter than the centre of the valley. Pressed to barrel then wild yeast fermented, this is such a fresh and delicate Chardonnay. Ribbons of white fleshed nectarines stretch through the mouth with a flicker of Jersey caramel in the background. A delightful creaminess pulls at your heartstrings - it's got me hooked. Peach skin feels are feathered through the mouth on a long and moreish finish. I'll have another glass easy.
