One of Juniper's top Chardonnays, this 2020 is not quite at the great heights of the previous vintage.
Made with 100% Gingin clone, the fruit was whole bunch pressed to barrel and saw 10 months on lees and 40% new oak. There was no MLF and it was bottled filtered not fined.
Dense and concentrated, there is a lot of pineapple with barbecued peach and roasted cashews playing a secondary role. Nougat and vanilla cream step out later with a lemon sherbet vibe. The bones of a great wine are there but it just doesn't have that extra bit of X factor and purity of the 2019.
