Mount Langhi Ghiran Blanc de Blanc 2017

Grampians Blanc de Blanc. It's light on the fizz, the first thing that caught my eye. A little more energy and spark would have been good. The cork was awfully pedestrian in its exit and needed some persuasion only to be missing a 'pop' of any sort. It could be bottle variation?

From vines planted in 1985 and spending three months on lees, it kicks off with melted butter, pastry, sourdough and a yeasty complexity - the bones of a quality wine are there. Add some lemon juice, cut green apples and some lemon pith but it all seems to just float about. A textural presence and nuttiness moors itself to the palate but the fruit drive slides off quicker than expected. A dash of saltiness lingers too. All up, it's a good drink but needs a little nip and tuck.
