Is The Balance a nice way of saying the dregs? We will never know. What I can tell you is that this Cabernet/Cabernet Franc/Merlot blend stacks up and holds its own very well.
Captivating scents of violets and purple flowers race for your attention. A cheeky touch of lavender rises up too. Blueberries and red currants aren't far from the action. There are plenty of tomato bush, dried sage and minty things going on too. Powdery and chalky feels through the mouth point to some aging potential, but for now, I want to invest more in the black fruits that build nicely with time in the glass. As with the other Nightfall wines, the oak is well-handled and adds good form without overstepping the mark. A great blend.
