This was tasted on the back of Ben Chapman's ute while standing on his Welland vineyard in the middle of suburbia, downtown Nuriootpa. A blend of Barossa Valley and Eden Valley fruit, hence the Valley & Valley label.
The warmth gets you early and it's a bit hard to shake. No doubt some time in the glass would have shown it better but a quickfire tasting didn't offer that benefit. Clearly young, give this some time in a dark place or decant for a couple of hours. The bones of a solid Shiraz are here, there is no denying that. A bigger style, there is more Barossa fruit than Eden in the blend. Dense dark berries and plums do most of the talking with some raspberry brownie cutting in late. A persistent length is highlighted by baking spices. Yeah, give it time.
