Reach for the sticky, smokey ribs says Mike de Iuliis but simply chilling out by the fire pit on a cool evening with a generous pour of this will do just fine. Wonderfully medium-bodied, this is a tidy Hunter Valley Shiraz.
The meaty drive ensures that you can't help but think of barbecued meats. Purple fruits, blackberry paste, ripples of dark chocolate and a fine veil of spice floats through the mouth. Smooth and silky, this grew into its shoes the longer it sat in the glass. A long, drawn out finish gives those spices the opportunity to have the last say leaving a tickle and tease in its wake. Decant for now or be rewarded over the medium term.
Drink to eight years.
