I love the energy and texture here. This is my first look at the Barratt Uley Vineyard Chardonnay and I like what I see.
From the Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills, the wine was wild yeast fermented in a mix of new, second and third use French oak for ten months.
White fleshed peach, lemon juice and tangy lemon meringue, biscuity and brioche feels with a delicate raw cashew nuttiness - what an intro! The lick of toast plus some vanilla adds even more detail. A salivating texture is feathered through and lures you in for more - yes! The flicker of ginger spices ticks away on a long and memorable finish. That texture and that energy though... It's a smart Chardonnay indeed.
