This Sauvignon Blanc comes from Kongorong - 26 kilometres southwest of Mt Gambier. Handled like a red wine less the skins, as per the back label, "A wine for the intrepid vinous explorer from a place of wonder and mystery, one to put you in an Empire State of mind!"
A herby and leafy expression of Sauvignon Blanc hits the glass. Despite seeing French oak for seven months on lees, it is highlighted by green melon, passionfruit, lime leaf, cut green herbs with a pineapple sage a feature. Lemongrass adds some appeal to this easy-drinking style. It's a wine to share with food, but for mine, some more body would bump this up a notch or two for mine.
Drink now to three years.
