Quite a different Grenache that I've come to expect from Juxtaposed and I reckon it needs a couple of years to find its feet. Normally quite juicy and vibrant but the pendulum has shifted to a more savoury release this time.
Sourced from three vineyards (for the first time), the first and only appearance of Dom's Block makes its debut under the Juxtopsed label. The hands-off winemaking style of Wes Pearson is evident and this release saw 17 months in barrel.
Hazelnuts feature large which is a curious feature of this wine. Pretty scents of red flower petals, baked blueberries, mulberries and sour cherries get amongst it. Strawberries take some time to find their feet with a nip of orange rind hitching a ride late as the hazelnut thing swings back around. Silty and black tea like tannins reach long on a respectable finish, but it showed its best after a couple of days of tasting. Tuck it away for a year or two and I reckon you'll be better for it.
